A Radically Better Fume Extractor

When you’re soldering you can notice smoke rising from the solder as the iron melts the metal, as you might have guessed this is not at all good for you or your lungs. There already exists several DIY filtration systems on the internet, but these may only be about 5% effective at reducing the pollutants produced when soldering [1]. Watch the first 14 seconds of the project video to understand the problem.

Roboticized Light Switch for Home Automation

Today I’m showing you how I solved the super annoying problem of automating my lights, when it’s not possible to change out the light switch or switch to smart bulbs. The solution was to make a roboticized cover which makes my dumb light switch a lot smarter! First of all I recommend you watch the video to see the development process and the final light switch in action. For the last few years I’ve been doing various home automation upgrades to my apartment to make it a lot smarter, but there’s always been one glaring issue I couldn’t solve: Automating my ceiling lights.

Art Robot

In this project I’m showing you how I made my own art robot. The whole concept is to illustrate how we as humans can work together and collaborate with machines and robots to create something new. Both the art style and ethos of the project was inspired by the great pop art artist Andy Warhol. Warhol was among other things fascinated by commoditization and mass production. This inspired his own art work both in subjects, like Coke bottles, Marilyn Monroe, Campbell Soup cans, and in method - as he used silk screen printing to be able to churn out paintings and art work in his studio The Factory.

PCB Dial Mod for Mechanical Watch

Some time ago when I looked for design inspiration for the binary wrist watch I did a lot of research and delved deep into the parts of internet home to watch enthusiasts. I came out mostly unharmed, but have now become fairly interested in watches as a hobby. In this project I will show you how I dissasembled an automatic mechanical watch and made a few daring modifications including a completely new dial.

Combined ISP and FTDI Tool With Pogo Pins

I’ve been reading Sapiens by Yuval Harari and one of the things that has been the most fascinating to me, is human beings ability to make their life better by envisioning and creating a tool that doesn’t yet exist. In this instructable I will be showing how to make a new tool for improving your microcontroller projects. When making embedded microcontroller projects, like a binary wrist watch, you usually optimize for size and minimal components.

DIY Binary Wrist Watch

I’ve always been fascinated by both interesting ways of telling the time and binary code. It’s amazing the amount of information can be stored in simple ON/OFF signals. I knew I wanted a new wrist watch so why not combine binary code with a wrist watch, and do it as an awesome DIY project? This is the kind of idea that lodged itself in the back of my mind. Always present and constantly evolving until it reached a saturation point where the project had to be done!

DIY IoT Lamp for Home Automation || ESP8266 Tutorial

In this tutorial we’re going to make an internet connected smart lamp. This will go deep into internet of things and opens up a world of home automation! For this project I developed my very first mobile app for Android. Click here to check it out This was a lot of fun to develop. I used Xamarin which allows for developing apps in C# and the .NET Framework, which I’m already familiar with.
